Zoya, a filmmaker is currently based in Berlin, Germany. She is pursuing a BA in Film Production at Catalyst Institute for Creative Arts and Technology. With a deep love for visual arts and a fine arts background, Zoya started her career as a comic artist. Her experience in sculpting, DIY crafting, and animation further fueled her interest in cinema, eventually igniting her passion for filmmaking is a new tool for self-expression – especially as an Art Director & Production Designer.

Growing up in a conservative environment as a queer transwoman, she faced oppression and censorship, her work delves into themes of death, identity, systemic abuse, gender roles, and love. Drawing from her personal experiences and she brings a unique perspective to these complex issues.
